Australia
Post employ approximately 33,000 employees Australia wide of which only
10,000 have day to day access to a PC / Work Station. Over the past 2
years Aust Post have invested time and money in “Web Enabling” their
Human Resources and Superannuation information. The result being that
90% of the day-to-day enquiries the HR department handle can be
satisfied online via their “My Benefits” portal.
The
business driver is to empower the 23,000 employees, ie: Mail Sorters,
Truck Drivers, Store men etc, with the same benefit of access to the “My
Benefits” portal via the kiosks. As a result the pressure is taken off
the HR department and equality is restored within the employee base.
The kiosk shell for the trial is just an off the shelf World Net design,
the “Plinth”. Post trial a kiosk will be designed to meet with the

BP, in
conjunction with partly owned Wishlist.com required a self-service kiosk
enabling customers to access 20 plus Wish List hot products, Mapping
service with printer, SMTP, POP, Video & Picture Email and access to
certain parts of the BP Web Site plus news, sport and weather bulletins.
The
business driver is multifaceted and based on giving clients access to
online services. The main driver is giving access to 20 “Hot Products”
from Wishlist.com. The purchases are delivered to and stored free at BP
Connect awaiting collection. BP shares in the profits and forces a
return visit by the customer. The other services are free with email and
mapping proving popular motivators to lift foot traffic in store.
The kiosk shell was design specifically to meet with the décor and
working constraints set by BP. Of particular concern was the clever use
of space as retail stores value space higher than most. As a result the
final design was built as a stand up unit with a small footprint.
Constructed from stainless steel and powder coated mild steel, the kiosk
is complete with a touch screen LCD monitor, thermal printer, PC, video
camera, keyboard and track ball. |

in a Foodland store in Adelaide on digital signage over a three month
period. The results and trial parameters where design to calculate the

Monash University had developed an
extensive Intranet-based portal for information about university life.
Username and password protected, the portal allowed users to build
personal pages, such as; Class schedules, Lecture notes etc.
Objective
Fast, simply access to the portal across the campus was required.
Equipment would have to be both sturdy and durable to withstand
potentially demanding environments. The solution must also have a small
footprint in order to fit into various existing locations easily.
Solution
World Net proposed “MyMonash" portal kiosks. A custom kiosk would be
adapted from World Net’s Plinth kiosk. Fitted with new LCD monitors, the
hybrid kiosks had a shortened base that allowed placement in
shallow-depth locations.
